BAYALA meaning “never give in or give up” … originally a cattle farming enterprise with hunting concession, is now under new ownership and in the process of balancing the ecological system of the environment. Bayala Game Lodge (1200ha) will be integrated into the Munyawana Conservancy (+-22 000ha) by dropping fences within 2017 thus offering game viewing including the Big 5 (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros) on the neighbouring Munyawana Conservancy. In the last 25 years the Munyawana Conservancy has expanded their green frontier enabling free roaming of wild animals and focusing on conservation of flora and fauna.

Bayala is centrally situated within easy access to Lake St Lucia, Sodwana Bay, Hluhluwe / Imfolozi / Mkuze Game Reserve as well as Bayete Zulu Elephant Sanctuary/Interaction, Ndumu Game Reserve and Kozi Bay. Many species of animals occur within this haven. The area has rich diversity and an abundance of bird life.

Bayala is an accredited member of The Big 5 Municipality, the Tourism Grading Council, Elephant Coast Tourism and Hluhluwe Big 5 CTO. Bayala Game Lodge is a non Malaria area.

BAYALA forms part of an upliftment program for the Velakhukanya Primary and High School. We provide employment through educating our staff and equip them with hospitality skills. We offer an informative and educational tour to our guests into the local rural community for a better understanding of their culture and traditions. Often resulting in further support and enriching the community. Recently we drilled a borehole and a 5000 liter tanks, supplying fresh water to the community.

Bayala supports  The Cycle of Life by helping to raise funds for the desperate rhino plight in KwaZulu Natal. The Cycle of life has a team of 120 cyclists that by participate in the Cape Town Cycle Tour raising funds and awareness for animal conservation. They are in partnership with Africa Foundation, an organisation that has been committed to raising funds and awareness in conservation, education and health care in Africa for 24 years, was welcomed.

BAYALA meaning “never give in or give up” …

This unique 4-day-stage, 260 km event, starting in the uMkhuze game reserve section and ending in the seaside resort of St Lucia within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park – a UNESCO World Heritage site – allows Mountain Bikers access to areas far off the normal tourist routes, enabling them to experience the values this Park has to offer. iSimangaliso is among the most diverse parks in the world with eight major interlinking ecosystems, one of the highest bird counts in the country, incredible plant and game species biodiversity (all of the Big Five) and superlative natural beauty. On the second day the route transits the ‘Big Five’ Phinda Private Game Reserve, then continues through the False Bay section of iSimangaliso and finally into the neighbouring Bonamanzi Private Game Reserve.
